Geoff and I have never been much on the obligatory idea of producing unnecessary trinkets to demonstrate our love. Flashing strobe lit underwear has always confused me when it comes to saying “ I love you”. If we do take part in the holiday it is generally 4 days after the event when everything is 75% off! Even then it’s just for the candy, especially since I have a weakness for all things sweet.
Today I am confined to my bed nursing a horrible chest cold while my love diligently pursues the much neglected dishes. He loathes doing them more than I but there he is demonstrating the perfect picture of love itself. For us love is not produced in an annual purchase of plagiarized thoughts. The cards and chocolate and flowers, are trivial in light of the day to day self sacrificing. That alone speaks volumes of sappy love poems to me.
Geoff doesn’t feel the need to buy me overpriced “dead weeds” and chocolate once a year but rather all throughout the year finds ways to show me the depths of his love. Whether it is the dishes, a quick text or knowing just what I need I’ve found that by the time that V-day rolls around I am never in want for more, and don’t feel neglected if I don’t receive a commercially induced box of chocolates. Guess I just don’t measure love that way.
However I can only begin to thank God for blessing me beyond all expectations.
My best friend for 14 years we have laughed till we cried and cried till there were no more tears to shed. We have grown up and out togetherJ. I grow because of you. Experiencing Christ’s love through you has propelled my very own relationship with Him. I never could have traveled one step of this journey without your enduring patience and love. 13 years ago you asked me to teach you how to love and today it is I who must confess that it is I who has learned to love because of you. Thank you my love for showing me your endless love every day.
Guess I could not help myself I succumbed to some sap….

Loved your "sap". Just what I needed to read tonight. I could see Christ's love all through it, too. Happy Valentine's Day (we don't go in for the manufactured holiday, either!)

I agree - every day love is the best kind. Who needs candy and flowers one day a year???
Hope you feel better soon.
