Lobster in the school cafeteria

In homeschool we just finished a study on Maine. We learned about fishing boats, wharfs and lobsters. All of which are foreign to the landlocked culture of Kansas. To completely immerse the girls in the learning experience, some friends helped build a mock lobstering boat, and pots. We celebrated our success with a meal of lobster! I however came to the quick realization that my children live a taste bud sheltered life. Dining on what was previously in a fish tank was too much for Amia, who with tears streaming down her face proudly proclaimed she could not eat a pet! (peta here we come!) Zoe feigned disinterest because of her sisters, but quickly gobbled it up. And Grace took 10min debating the fact that it stunk to much to eat it. Only to then say she liked lobster but her favorite part was the butter.
Our first two weeks of school have been so much fun! The girls have been telling everyone all that they are learning. I can hardly wait to hear their versions of today's adventure.
